About Us

Over 15 Years of Experience

What We Do

Solidarity Uganda educates vulnerable communities through discussion-based “problem-posing” education.

The pedagogical methods of such community-based trainings employ cross-cultural interactions, physical activities, arts, debates, and other interactive and experiential approaches.

Some call this “popular education,” “pedagogy of the oppressed,” or “adult education” (but we think even kids learn better this way).

Climate Justice and Enviromental conservation

Uganda’s once predictable tropical climate is being reshaped by the devastating effects of climate change.

The National Land Defense League (NLDL)

It is time to put deliberate focus on scaling up this movement. Linkages between chapters should also be formed.

Rapid Response

By mobilizing allies and working groups, we ensure swift action to defend those targeted by oppressive forces.

Consolidating Youth Power

In Uganda, young people are often mischaracterized as instigators of violence, but many are using nonviolent strategies to demand justice and resist oppression.

Women Empowerment for Civil Resistance

In East Africa’s patriarchal societies, women face significant barriers to recognizing and harnessing their power for social and political change.

WII OTEM Center for Resistance and Alternatives

Our goal is to create resources that serve not only scholars but also activists, organizers, and progressive leaders on the frontlines of the fight for justice.

Building Collective Power

At Solidarity Uganda, we believe that lasting social change is achieved when oppressed communities unite and build collective power. We work alongside these communities, providing the tools and strategies they need to organize, mobilize, and take action. Through collaboration and solidarity, we help transform shared struggles into collective strength, empowering people to challenge systems of oppression and create a more just and equitable society.

Shifting Power Through Community Organizing

Community organizing empowers people to transform their collective resources into the power needed to create lasting change. True power stems from our shared commitment to a common purpose, and that commitment is built through strong relationships.

Testimonials

What activists & community Organizers say about Us

Alex Kipsang Activist

“Solidarity Uganda has empowered us to know our rights. We are now able to own our fight against injustice in our community”

Christine Amongin Activist

“I took part in the bicycle caravan to protest against a land grabber in Kumi district. Immediately after the caravan, the land grabber was chased away and the land was regained, that is the power of nonviolence activism.”

JESCA KONGAI Activist

“I’m grateful to Solidarity Uganda for equipping us with skills and knowledge on how to fight corruption nonviolently. In Kiyere police station, Serere district, we arrested a corrupt police officer who was found demanding a bribe of Uganda shilling 30,000 from a complainant. We captured footage of him receiving a bribe which we used against him in ensuring he faced the law”
